Mendocino Woodlands State Park

A rustic retreat surrounded by tranquil redwood forest

Located 150 miles north of San Francisco and nestled amid 720 acres of second- and third-growth redwoods, charming cabins with all the creature comforts (kitchens, dining halls, showers and bathrooms) create an idyllic setting for seminars, youth trips, naturalist expeditions and celebrations. This National Historic Monument has remained unchanged since 1938—a true rustic treasure.

ACTIVITIES: Group camping and hiking; for non-campers, the trails are open for day-use hiking and biking. (Please be advised, there are no public restrooms in the day-use area.) Go for a dip after a 1-mile hike to either Boyle’s swimming hole, which may have a lively crowd depending on the day, or Lily’s swimming hole, which is clothing-optional and usually less crowded.
